OUR VISION
Sample rural Kerala at its best – off the tourist trail and in an area of outstanding beauty and drama lies Mavady Hills, a pioneering plantation that offers a vintage stay with relaxed local informality. We offer guests an opportunity to relax in total privacy and make the experience their own: explore the spectacular Mavady hills and connect with your surroundings, share precious time with friends and family, and indulge in the finest local produce. OUR PEOPLE
Hailing from one of Kerala’s oldest planter families, we’ve been custodians of this land for generations, ensuring its beauty and traditions continue to thrive. My wife, Silu, and I now carry this legacy forward with a blend of warmth and modern touches.
I’m Mathew, a graduate in hospitality and culinary arts from New Zealand. My passion lies in creating unforgettable experiences for every guest, curating moments of joy and relaxation. Leading a team of dedicated individuals, we ensure that Vanilla County offers more than just a stay—it’s a personal, heartfelt experience.
Silu, my wife, brings the warmth of Kerala’s backwaters into every corner of Vanilla County. Her dedication to making each guest feel like family is at the core of our hospitality, and it is this spirit that defines our home.
Our well-experienced local staff, many of whom have been with us for years, are the true backbone of Vanilla County. Their commitment and attention to detail make sure that every guest enjoys personalized, thoughtful care, and a genuine taste of Kerala’s culture and hospitality.
And no visit to Vanilla County is complete without meeting our friendly Labrador, Koffi, who happily joins guests for a walk or simply lounges by their side.
At Vanilla County, our story is a family legacy deeply rooted in hospitality. Built in 1947 by my grandparents, the bungalow has witnessed generations of history. In 1997, my parents pioneered the homestay concept, welcoming travelers from around the world and sharing the charm of our heritage home.
